This session will discuss the benefit of intra-code TNK for the suspicion of massive PE. This presentation will review the case of a middle aged female who presented in acute respiratory failure following a recent knee surgery. She was assessed with point of care ultrasound, found to have cardiac dysfunction concerning for massive PE. She immediately coded following intubation and was stabalized with two rounds of intra-code TNK. She was ultimately able to be extubated and stabalized after a prolonged hospital stay. This session will review the data on TNK for PE, and TNK for cardiac arrest to encourage the consideration of its use in specific cases with high risk for PE.
Learning Objectives:
After this session, learners will understand why it is important to give thrombolytics early in cardiac arrest.
After this session, learners will feel comofrtable using TNK or TPA in cardiac arrest.
After this session, learners will maintain PE high on their differential diagnosis list in cardiac arrest.
