As our population continues to age, the utilization of pacemakers has been increasing, and with it so do complications associated with them. Between undersensing, oversensing, failure to capture, run away pace makers, and pocket infections, there are a lot of different ways for a pacemakers to malfunction. Early recognition and intervention is important to restore baseline function of the patients cardiac cycle.

Understand the common sensing malfunctions, electrical capture failures and infectious causes of pacemaker complications.
