Joseph D. Thrower (JDT) is a dynamic dual-degree student currently navigating his second year of medical school (MS2) while diving into the research phase of his Doctor of Health Administration (DHA) dissertation. With a solid background in healthcare operations and a Master of Public Health from Emory University, JDT blends clinical training with administrative leadership and a strong commitment to academic scholarship in the exciting field of emergency medicine. His research delves into how emergency care providers and hospital administrators perceive and tackle racial health disparities in acute care settings.
JDT has taken the lead on initiatives aimed at redesigning urgent care, enhancing patient experiences, and boosting operational efficiency across a range of specialties, including emergency care, pediatrics, and laboratory medicine. He also enjoys contributing to the educational journey of future medical professionals as an adjunct microbiology instructor. Passionate about mentorship, youth development, and advancing health equity, JDT is looking forward to connecting with others at AAEM25 to explore new collaborative opportunities in research, advocacy, and future residency training.
