Dr. Joshua Guttman was born and raised in Montreal, Canada. He earned his medical degree at the McGill University Faculty of Medicine and continued on to complete a residency in Emergency Medicine at McGill University, where he was chief resident. He then completed a fellowship in emergency medicine ultrasound at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, in New York, NY.
Dr. Guttman is an associate professor of emergency medicine and just completed his term as the emergency ultrasound fellowship director in 2023. Dr. Guttman is an experienced speaker, having given over 50 national and international talks and workshops in emergency medicine and POCUS, including as a speaker from AAEM21 through AAEM23. Dr. Guttman has served as a board member for the AAEM EUS and is currently its chair-elect. Dr. Guttman serves as the associate director of the POCUS curriculum for the Foundations of Emergency Medicine ultrasound curriculum. Dr. Guttman is the founder and course director for the AAEM “Unmute Your Probe” virtual ultrasound course.
Since completing his fellowship term, Dr. Guttman founded Peachtree POCUS, a consulting company assiting in establishing or improving POCUS programs as well as POCUS education.
